THE MEN JESUS KNEW
They saw ordinary men.
Jesus saw Peter and John.
When the council looked at Peter and John, they saw unschooled working men with no place in a room of power. Jesus had seen them long before that day: fishermen with rough hands, competing ambitions, unfinished character, and fears they did not yet understand.
He did not wait for them to become impressive. He called them by name, invited them close, corrected them, restored them, and trusted them with His work. What the council witnessed in Acts 4:13 was the fruit of being fully known and continually formed by Jesus.

PETER · BEFORE THE COURAGE
Jesus knew who Peter was becoming before Peter did.
Jesus met a working fisherman in the middle of disappointment. He saw courage Peter had not yet shown, leadership Peter had not yet learned, and failure that would not cancel the calling.
Being known did not make Peter passive. It gave him a secure place from which to heal, discover, understand, and eventually stand.
